Welcome to the Underwood Studio website, which features the turned wood pieces I create at my studio in the Columbia River Gorge.

My strong appreciation for the beauty and serenity of the northwest is expressed in my art.  In many pieces, the contrast between the smoothly-turned surface and innate characteristics of the wood mimics the strong contrasts found in the Gorge between mountains and valleys, rivers and deserts, and nature and man.  In addition, the pieces predominately feature native wood, and whenever possible, highlight the dramatic, natural features of the wood.  For a more detailed insight into each of my series of turned wood, click here.
