Torn Bowl

This piece is called "Torn Bowl" because the bark which remains looks as if it is being torn apart.  This feature creates a dramatic tension, which is well balanced by the through hole on the opposite side of the vessel.

Some of the best results from turning are impossible to predict.  While the shape of the piece and the bark edge were part of the original concept, the pieces of torn bark were a surprise that would be nearly impossible to replicate.
