Winged Victory
 

This was turned from a piece of oak reclaimed from our firewood pile (notice the chainsaw cut in the lower left).  The original piece of wood was a main trunk that divided into two branches.

The complete surprise in this piece is the worm holes which were revealed while turning, and the spalting (a fungus carried by the worms which then grows along grain lines) slightly visible in the right-hand "wing."
